NYS Law 129-B “Enough is Enough” created a list of rights which students in New York State have in regards to sexual and relationship violence and the following impacts. The first right given to students is the right to make a report to local law enforcement and/or state police.
Impacted students have the right to file a complaint with the University and local law enforcement, and to have both entities consecutively investigate. In cases involving alleged criminal conduct, the Department of Public Safety will assist an impacted person in making a criminal complaint, if desired. Any criminal complaint will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
To file a complaint with Syracuse Police, you can visit their website here or call them at 315.442.5200 (non-emergency line) or 911 (emergency line).
If you would like advice about these processes or support at this time, please contact the Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Team.
